Executive Vice President Idaho Cattle Association Position The Executive Vice-President (EVP) is the chief executive officer of the Idaho Cattle Association, reporting directly to the Idaho Cattle Association Officers and Board of Directors. Organization With origins dating back to 1915, the Idaho Cattle Association is comprised of more than 1,000 members, and represents the interests of more 6,000 cattle producing families caring for almost 2 million head of cattle across the state of Idaho. The mission of the Idaho Cattle Association is to coordinate and advance the economic well being of the Idaho Beef Industry through innovative and effective political, educational, and marketing programs that are accepted and supported by all industry segments, partners, and coalitions. The ICA accomplishes this by performing the following three functions: 1. Representing the beef cattle industry to the legislative and administrative branches of government; 2. Explaining beef production, including product safety, use of natural resources, animal care and beef economics to the public and opinion influencers. In addition, interpreting economic, social and political developments for the industry; 3. Providing economic and other information to members to aid them in their own planning and management. Responsibilities Position Summary: The EVP is responsible for administering all programs and activities of the organization as established by the Board of Directors. General areas of responsibility include but are not limited to: government relations, financial management, policy development, budgeting, membership, association & employee management, producer education, and collaboration with industry partners and stakeholders. For the purposes of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the EVP is classified as an exempt position. The EVP may be responsible for, but not necessarily limited to, the following duties: Government Relations: Coordinate and guide all county, state, and Federal legislative and regulatory activity based on policy adopted by the ICA, as well as any interim policy as established by the organization. Financial Management: Collaborate and coordinate with the ICA treasurer and office personnel for day-to-day financial management of the Association. Develop and prepare, with the ICA treasurer, an annual operating budget for review and approval of the ICA Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. Oversee completion of monthly financial statements for all ICA accounts. Ensure prompt, timely, and accurate deposits, payments, receivables, and payables. o Hire outside audit of financial records at the end of each fiscal year. Public Relations: Identify, coordinate, and develop Association representatives to convey industry position. Develop and nurture working relationships with appropriate agricultural and outside industry media to maintain ICA integrity and credibility. Along with leadership, communicate industry messaging to stakeholders, other agriculture organizations, industry associations, producers, and others the activities and policies of the ICA. Membership: Responsible for coordinating, maintaining, and building membership in the Idaho Cattle Association. Attend local, state, and regional meetings to: a) Recruit new ICA members, b) Keep abreast of local, state, and national beef & related industry developments, c) Communicate successes of the ICA, d )Exchange ideas & network, and e) Develop & maintain membership recruitment goals. o Plan, develop, and administer current or new programs, contracts, services, and evaluate annually. Make recommendations to discontinue outdated or ineffective programs or events. o With officer team, serve as advisor to volunteer leaders and board members by recruiting and engaging new leaders. Involve volunteer officers, board members, and general membership with new technology, new ideas, and motivation. Association Management: Serve as primary staff contact for priority issues, as approved annually in December/January by the Board of Directors. Communicate progress of programs, press-releases, reports, events, issues, and correspondence between regularly scheduled meetings. Responsible for weekly Executive Update to members. Update ICA Operating Procedures annually. o Prepare and distribute materials. o Oversee publications. o Hire, supervise, and/or remove, if necessary, sufficient professional staff to meet goals and priorities of the Idaho Cattle Association. Develop/maintain job descriptions, annual evaluations, and performance reviews of staff. Set measurable objectives. Communicate with ICA Officer Team and Executive Committee on hiring. Conduct an exit review with staff upon resignation/termination with an Officer on hand. Maintain payroll records with Treasurer, Staff, Contractors, and Accountant. Responsible for all Human Resource Management. Update server as needed. Research off-site cloud storage system. o Carry out duties as assigned in the Idaho Cattle Association Operating Procedures and By-Laws. o Record the minutes of all meetings of the Association and provide those to the Board of Directors in a timely fashion. Coordinate with staff and leadership on agenda items. o Assist officers, board, staff, and committee leadership in short and long-range planning of the Idaho Cattle Association. Miscellaneous Responsibilities: Responsible for other duties from time to time as assigned by the President, Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and/or Committee Leadership. Qualifications The EVP will be thoroughly committed to the Idaho Cattle Associations mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience. Demonstrable experience and other qualifications include: Minimum Educational Requirements; Bachelors Degree. Preferred qualification; experience effectively leading and scaling a performance and outcomes driven team, organization, or business. Commitment to quality programs and objective evaluation of existing programming. Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships. Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures. Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator who is excellent at developing interpersonal relationships. Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people. Ability to operationalize strategies that have the potential to take the organization to the next level in terms of performance and engagement with stakeholders.
