Provide oversight and guidance to professionals, staff, and students engaged with MBMG research into Montana's hydrogeology, geology, and mineral and energy resources. Work closely with the MBMG Director to develop projects, programs, and budgets through interaction with MBMG personnel, MUS faculty, and Federal and State agencies.Responsible for technical editing and oversight of MBMG research publications, including maps and technical reports, by working with authors, internal and/external reviewers, and MBMG's Publications Office. This position is responsible for managing the publication review process.Manage collaboration between Research Division staff and MBMG's supporting divisions, including GIS and Data Systems, IT, Analytical, Publications, and the Mineral Museum.The MBMG is a department of the Montana Technological University, but this is a non-tenurable, non-teaching position. Work schedule is standard 40-hour week in office in Butte, MT, with occasional weekend and evening activities.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree and 13 years' experience or a Doctoral degree and 10 years' experience in Geology, Geoscience, or a closely related field.Demonstrated experience managing large geoscience-based research projects, including administration of budgets and project personnel.A publication record that reflects a broad knowledge of geology and/or hydrogeology.In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.REQUIRED SKILLS:
Demonstrated verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills; proven ability to communicate with scientists and staffPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated experience in the preparation, editing, review, and publication of geologic/hydrogeologic maps, technical reports, and digital data.Experience coordinating scientific and administrative activities related to geoscience research projects and programs, including budget development and fiscal oversight.Experience in leadership, personnel management, and supervision. Ability to foster collaborations in a university setting.Demonstrated success with grant proposal writing to obtain external research funding. - Familiarity with software and data management needs required to conduct high-quality and field-intensive geoscience research. Knowledge of Montana geology and hydrogeology, and the impact of natural resource development on the State's economy.For full consideration application materials -must be complete. -Please include: -
