CEHE operates degree-granting career colleges throughout the western United States and online. The college brands include Stevens-Henager Colleges in Utah and Idaho; CollegeAmerica in Colorado, Arizona, and Wyoming; California College San Diego, and Independence University (online platform). All of the colleges are accredited by ACCSC, a national accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The colleges offer degree programs from the Associate's level through the Master's level in variety of disciplines including: Computer Science, Graphic Arts, Business/Accounting, Medical Specialties, Nursing, and Healthcare. CEHE is an at-will employer. General Education Instructor Adjunct instructors will teach courses in the following disciplines at the Associate, Bachelor's, and Master's degree levels: Business; Math and Statistics; Philosophy; Psychology; Sociology; and Physics. Basic duties will involve instruction, tutoring, student advising, and some curriculum development. The instructor is responsible for the retention of students from the beginning to the end of the module. Essential Functions: Conduct classes in accordance with established syllabi and lesson plans. Prepare, administer and grade assignments, quizzes and tests. Provide encouragement and motivation for all students; create an environment that is conducive to learning and student development; and reinforce activities that support course completion. Be available to students via phone and email five of the seven days a week. Respond to all student questions within 24 hours or 1 business day if on a weekend, whichever is less, of receipt. - Provide objective and subjective feedback regarding student performance. - Maintain records of student attendance, grades, lab, and/or homework assignments. - Advise students regarding academic matters to improve successful course completion. - Communicate pro-actively with campus administration regarding student issues. - Ensure campus and college regulations and policies are known and followed. - Maintain a healthy, secure, and safe classroom environment. - Participate in scheduled faculty meetings and in services. - Report Preparation. - Must be able to lift 15 lbs. Qualifications: A current working knowledge of all theory and practical applications for courses being taught. Communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and through appropriate electronic media. Work successfully in a team environment. Hold the appropriate degree for courses being taught, as stipulated by ACCSC. Additional specific requirements listed below where appropriate Technical and Occupational courses in either non-degree or occupational associate degree programs must have a minimum of 3 years of related practical work experience in subject area(s) taught. Applied general education courses in an occupational associate degree program must have a baccalaureate degree with appropriate coursework in the subject area(s) taught or 3 years related practical work experience and college level coursework in the subject area(s) taught. Academic associate or baccalaureate degree program must have a minimum of 4 years related practical work experience in the subject area(s) taught and possess a related degree at least at the same level of the course being taught. General education courses in an academic degree program must have a minimum of a master's degree with appropriate academic coursework and preparation in the subject area(s) taught. Master's degree programs must be taught by faculty who possess a minimum of 4 years of related practical work experience. An earned doctorate degree or other terminal degree in a related field of study, and appropriate preparation in the subject area taught is preferred. A master's degree in a related field of study with appropriate preparation in the subject area taught or a master's degree in an unrelated field of study with 18 semester credit hours or 27 quarter credit hours of graduate level education in the subject area taught is required. Desired background and characteristics: teaching at the graduate level is highly desirable, understanding and appreciation of competency-based education, experience teaching/working in the adult learning environment, and experience with technology-based delivery systems. Measures of Merit: TBD by supervisor within 90 days of hire.
