What You Will Be Doing
Director UX, Pharmacy & Health will define and bring to life the vision for improving our customer lives through intuitive experiences in Pharmacy and Health across all our 18 banner brands. They will also be responsible for working with in-store UX flows and design to help our store Associates to work better and smarter. This position will have a pivotal role of driving effective collaboration with a variety of business leaders, technology leaders, product managers, marketing/merchandising, and other key stakeholders to define and design the way we serve our online and offline customers.
The ideal candidate will have a customer-first mentality, as well as solid grounding in design thinking. A deep understanding of knowledge gathering, ideation, prototyping, design process, concept visualization, and customer research are baselines for this role. The ideal candidate should bring multiple years of experience in both leading and building design teams.
This position reports directly to the VP Product of Pharmacy and Health. The work hours are full time, with visits to satellite offices and stores as needed.
Main Responsibilities
User Experience Strategy, Innovation Design, and Oversight (40%)

  • Assist in setting the strategic vision for Albertsons' UX in relation to the customer journey, and socialize that vision within the company
  • Think through and communicate concepts visually using techniques like journey mapping, storyboards, and user journeys
  • Ensure that conceptual designs and wireframes meet the highest standards and business goals for quality
  • Serve as a leading voice of the customer and act as a customer experience advocate in considering decisions that impact the customer
  • Champion a point-of-view regarding the relative importance of various initiatives that are ready to move to the development phase
  • Guide user experience leads to ensure designs and research are well understood by product managers and stakeholders
  • Support and guide team members as they ideate, collaborate, and design new experiences for the Albertson's digital fulfillment ecosphere
  • Develop, refine, and guide team through transition to leaner UX design practices
    People Leadership (40%)
    • Develop, lead, and inspire UX team members around defining and delivering UX design and research
    • Coach UX team members as they respond to project escalations, with an assessment of the business implications of changes to project scope, timelines, and resources
    • Create clear and measurable goals and objectives for the team related to the creation of designs and research, deliver high-quality UX design that support critical business objectives, and foster partnerships with cross-functional teams
    • Raise awareness of team's plans, insights, and accomplishments in order to facilitate cooperation across departments and to build a motivated and high-performing team
    • Assist direct reports with ongoing prioritization and resource allocation to ensure that the crucial business initiatives are delivered
    • Create and foster career development and growth paths for UX team members in alignment with company, product, and personal objectives
    • Attract, develop, and retain top UX talent
    • Lead teams in partnering with key business stakeholders and strategy team members to develop clear insights, designs, and research, and present to senior management the information necessary to make informed approval, prioritization, and tradeoff decisions
    • Ensure that all relevant parties and key stakeholders are informed of UX design and research status from concept through launch
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key business owners and senior management
    • Support senior leadership, the Pharmacy & Health Team, and the technology organization in developing and improving digital products
      Functional/Organizational Development: (10%)
      • Lead UX efforts in developing and implementing scalable processes and/or tools to enable functional productivity
      • Develop and refine the user-centered design process within the product management lifecycle

        What We Are Searching For
        • Education/Experience: 8-10 years relevant UX professional experience and BS/BA degree required
        • Must be able to clearly communicate as needed across all levels of management and stakeholders
        • 7-9 years' experience in one or more of the following areas: user experience, information architecture, or creative design
        • 3-5 years' experience interacting with direct reports and managers
        • Internet and retail experience strongly preferred
        • Healthcare experience desirable
        • Strong analytical, prioritization and negotiating skills
        • Usability and customer-focused design experience required
        • Passionate about building great user experiences and solving customer and business problems
