They lead a team of Portfolio Product Managers and are responsible for ensuring all product lines within their respective portfolio deliver a high-quality user experience to customers, within budget and on schedule. They are responsible for prioritizing investment decisions across their portfolio and for representing the needs of their portfolio across the organization.As a people leader, the Portfolio Product Director will lead, coach, and continuously upskill their team to develop the next generation of Portfolio Product Management talent. They are advocates for their team and prepare their team for career advancement and leadership within the organization.As a member of the Portfolio Product Management leadership team, they work closely with colleagues across the Product organization and in Technology, Marketing, Sales and Finance to deliver market-leading product and to establish go-to-market strategies. They are responsible for collaboratively designing and improving product management procedures and product development processes. They ensure alignment and prioritize trade-offs across the larger Portfolio Product Management organization.What youll do here:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Portfolio Product Managers to achieve goals and priorities, represent the team across the organization, and advocate on its behalf.
  • Prioritize product build and investment decisions across portfolio to align with Cengage Academic strategy and deliver growth metrics. Accountable for portfolio P&L and portfolio strategy decisions.
  • Provide strategic oversight for the entire portfolio. Influence broader corporate strategy by engaging with counterparts across the organization.
  • Lead change initiatives that enable business and teams to adapt quickly and deliver on company-wide priorities.Skills you will need here:
    • 5+ years experience leading product management or similar teams
    • Experience working cross-functionally with Director and above roles, bringing people together across teams and aligning different priorities and objectives
    • Experience in budget accountability and management including developing and tracking to a variety of financial and business metrics (e.g., P&L, usage statistics, etc.)
    • Familiarity with agile development methodologies; experience managing 3rd party partner and vendor relationships
