Job Description: Endoscopy Registered NurseSupervised By:
Endoscopy DirectorGeneral Responsibilities: Under the guidance of
the registered nurse license, supervision of the physician and in
collaboration with other team members, the endoscopy RN is
responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect care in all
stages of the patient's procedure plan during their stay at the
endoscopy center in accordance with the nurse practice act,
professional standards of care, state of Idaho, AAAHC accreditation
standards and Idaho Gastroenterology's philosophy, policies and
procedures.Pre-Procedure/Recovery RN Responsibilities:1. Assess,
evaluate, and accurately record patient's pre-procedure and
post-procedure phases and all necessary patient care tasks involved
in each of those phases2. Initiate emergency measures when
necessary3. Communicate pertinent information to co-workers and
reports errors in a timely manner to the Endoscopy Director4.
Accountable for administration of drugs, IV procedures and other
therapeutic measures in a safe and accurate manner and in
accordance with physician's orders.5. Provide a safe environment
for the patient to prevent potential injury. Investigates and
intervenes in problem situations, reporting appropriate information
to supervisor and documents same6. Anticipate and assist with
maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and medications.7.
Provide patient teaching in all phases of their care (admission,
procedure, and recovery) reviews discharge instructions with
patient then documentation of patient's understanding in EMR
record8. Provide guidance to other staff members assisting with
orientation9. Consult with appropriate supervisor or physicians as
needed10. Assist in crash cart maintenance and defibrillator
checks, monitoring expiration dates and recalls11. Complete patient
documentation in a clear, concise, and timely manner using the
designated EMR system12. Demonstrate ability to re-process scopes
and troubleshoot issues. Maintains familiarity with function of
scope and cleaning room13. Seek educational opportunities and
accept responsibility for own professional growth and development.
Participates with in-service opportunities and staff meetings.14.
Accept direction from supervisor and/or physicians and adheres to
established procedures and policies15. Maintain professionalism:

outside the work area or within hearing range of visitors/family or
patient20. Maintain flexibility with assignments; able to work at
all IGA endoscopy locations when needed21. Function within the
legal limits of Nurse Practice Act22. Participate in the QI program
as needed23. Complete yearly competency modules in Conscious
Sedation, Cardiac Monitoring, Blood Glucose, Infection Control and
Scope Room24. Maintain computer skills required to function in
EPIC25. Utilizes Microsoft Outlook email for non-patient
correspondence and EPIC for patient care
correspondence/documentation26. Demonstrates respect of IGA
policies for security, privacy, and confidentiality while using IGA
equipment. Follows personnel policies contained within the IGA
personnel manual27. Immediately reports any network, hardware, or
software malfunction to the IT Officer and/or on shift
supervisor28. Assume role of charge nurse when assigned29. Perform
other duties as assignedProcedure Room Registered Nurse
Responsibilities:1. Evaluates and completes assessment of patient
needs to provide supportive care before, during and after
procedures and maintains accurate and complete medical records for
the patients' electronic chart2. Maintains equipment and supplies
to includea) Clean and disinfect of endoscopy equipmentb) Operates
and troubleshoot patient monitoring equipmentc) Anticipate and
assist with maintaining adequate inventory of supplies and
medications3. Ensures informed consent is signed by patient, MD and
witnessed by RN prior to administration of sedation4. Assists in
accurate completion of procedure logbook5. The endoscopy RN will
administer sedative, hypnotic, or analgesic drugs, at the direction
