Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 11/03/2025 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking a skilled RN for a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) position requiring two years of PICU experience and strong EVD and trach/vent skills. Responsibilities Work in an acute care PICU setting with 12 beds (census varies seasonally) Typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:2 Serve a pediatric patient population including trach/vent cases, DKA, respiratory, surgical cases (trachs, g-tubes, shunts, hernia repairs, seizures), with no cardiac cases Unit uses Epic EMR; Epic experience is preferred but not required 12-hour day shifts (7a-7p) with weekends as needed; weekend requirement is 5 shifts in 6 weeks Frequent floating to Peds, NICU, and patient sitter assignments is required No call requirements Must interpret own telemetry strips; titration of drips (propofol, fentanyl, epi, etc.) required No nurse aids or patient care techs on unit; charge nurse present and does not take a patient assignment Primary responsibilities include caring for high-acuity pediatric patients and managing drips and advanced respiratory equipment RNs required to troubleshoot and operate vents, bubble CPAP, and BiPAP Scrub color is flexible; any color may be worn Expect to work at least one holiday during the contract Two 12-hour shifts of unit-specific orientation will be provided First time travelers are welcome to apply Permanent employees must be away from the facility for one year before applying for a travel assignment Requirements Active ID or compact RN license at time of application Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) required Minimum of 2 years recent PICU experience Current BLS and PALS certifications required EVD and trach/vent experience is mandatory Driver’s license required for consideration Must provide two professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-624793.
