Certifications: BLS, EKG Certification Must-Have: Must have 2 years
of MedSurg experience. Must have EPIC experience. Must be able to
read and interpret telemetry. Must be willing to take students and
may precept new travelers. Description: Department: Medical
Surgical Number of Beds: 42 Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5,
occasionally 1:6 (very rarely happens) Common Diagnoses/Types of
Patients: - Total joints - Orthopedic-hospital fractures - Spine
surgeries (lumbar and cervical) - Urology procedures - General
surgeries (cholecystectomies, bowel resections, complicated
mastectomies) - GYN overflow (total hysterectomies) - Medical
overflow (COPD, some behavioral health, sepsis, infections) Charge
Nurse available on each shift, usually does not take patients
unless needed. Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) support the nurses
with a ratio of 1:8. Common Equipment: - CPAP and BiPAP (managed by
respiratory therapy) - High flow oxygen Virtual telemetry
technicians monitor patients remotely. Registered Nurses are
responsible for reading and interpreting their own telemetry
strips. There is a floating requirement between similar units
within the system. Shifts are 7pm to 7:30am. Weekend Requirement: 5
weekend shifts within a 6-week period. Holiday Requirement:
Required if there is a need. Dress Code: Any color scrubs, as long
as they are clean and professional. The facility mandates
compliance with a radius rule of 50 miles for candidates.
Cancellation Policy: Client may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week
