What You Will Be Doing

The National Replenishment Senior Buyer is responsible for overseeing the buying team's performance against key performance indicators, ensuring efficient buying practices and strong partnership with vendors. The senior buyer participates in regular collaborative planning sessions, ensures that Vendor specific goals and objectives are met, and executes against key replenishment initiatives as assigned. The senior buyer works side by side with buyers to ensure best practice adoption and assists in managing performance. The senior buyer supports the Manager in achievement of all team, distribution center, and company profit objectives. As a key member of the national replenishment team, the senior buyer assists in ensuring that the highest standards of professional integrity are maintained.

POSITION LOCATION: Remote; must reside in one of ACI's operating areas.

Main Responsibilities
Ensure that established policies and procedures are understood and adhered to by all replenishment buying team members.
Build strong and trusting relationships with team members, internal business partners, and assigned vendor partners. Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to achieve objectives.
Adopt a holistic perspective that considers data, analytics, customer insights, and different parts of the business when making plans and determining action plans.
Deliver expected business results while putting the customer first.
Train and mentor new National buying team members. Responsible for supporting the Replenishment manager in evaluating team member performance.
Perform buying activities to obtain fill rate, inventory productivity and product loss goals on assigned buying desk. Leverage data driven scorecards to monitor performance.
Assist team members to reach team objectives.
Assist National Replenishment Manager in setting performance targets for buying team in relation to anticipated and actual sales and see that these are maintained.
Interface with other departments and division personnel to accomplish job functions. Develop and maintain good working relationships with brokers, vendors, store operations, distribution center and division office personnel.
Assist in collaborative planning with assigned vendor partners to attain the best net product price possible.
Display keen focus on supply chain efficiency to implement cost savings initiatives.
Review and resolve pre-books/allocations/scan based issues received from stores or division personnel.
Visit stores, as needed, to monitor programs, obtain store feedback and to assess overall implementation effectiveness as needed.
Address Accounts Payable variances for assigned items to ensure inventory values are correct and billing to stores are accurate.
Resolve store distribution issues by acting as a liaison with the warehousing and transportation department and store associates.
Develop and mentor members of buying team.
Remote access to buying system from home or off site location when necessary.

We believe the successful candidate has these qualifications and experience:

Education Level: Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent replenishment and planning, and/or Supply Chain experience.

Experience Level
5-7 years of experience in multiple facets of Supply Chain including Retail Operations, Buying, Logistics and Manufacturing.
5+ years of Purchasing, Replenishment, Planning or Vendor Management experience in the retail industry; experience with a major grocery retailer chain in purchasing or strategic sourcing role with responsibility for working with major national vendors of consumer-packaged goods or commodity food products.

Skills And Experiences
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Excellent negotiations skills
Proficiency in PC systems required.
Strong understanding of meat and seafood commodity markets and published industry reporting platforms.
Must have a full understanding of regulatory requirements including those of USDA, USDC and FDA where applicable.
Ability to recognize and understand industry trends and impacts to the region and enterprise.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to make appropriate decisions in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
Strong planning, organizing and negotiating skills.
Must have the ability to represent the company's interests in negotiations with outside professionals and suppliers.
Ability to concentrate and deal with frequent interruptions. High degree of initiative and sense of urgency.
Exceptional systems skills especially MS Office and Supply Chain systems.
Strong detailed understanding of business operations.
Working knowledge of procurement, logistics, inventory management, marketing, accounting and financial management practices.
Demonstrated people leader: build strong relationships, hire great people, commit to the growth of individuals on team and lead by example.


Physical Environment
Ability to lift 30 pounds or more.
Work typically performed in a temperature-controlled environment. A limited amount of time may be at temperatures of 40 degrees or lower (frozen and perishable warehouses).
Spends long periods of time at desk or computer terminal.
Uses calculators, keyboards, telephone and other office equipment during a normal workday.
Workday is fast paced; some evening and weekend work may be required.
