Description:
The Banquet Captain supervises all Banquet Servers in the execution
of events that require food and beverage service. In this position,
one must exercise independent judgment and make multiple decisions
quickly. The Banquet Captain collaborates with all departments and
serves as a liaison between the Client, Event Managers, Kitchen,
and Operations to ensure the overall guest experience.

Boise Centre opened in 1990 and is Idaho's largest convention,
meeting, and tradeshow facility. Located in vibrant downtown Boise
adjacent to the Grove Plaza. Featuring, 86,000 square feet of
flexible meeting and event space. The convention center hosts more
than 220 diverse events each year, bringing over 125,000 guests
through our doors.

WAGE:
Starting at $18.50-$21 per hour, depending on experience
WHAT DO BANQUET CAPTAINS DO?
Assists with overall food and banquet service operations during an
event including, but not limited to, proper table set-up, food and
beverage service, and clean-up
Analyzes Banquet Event Orders to plan and assign duties ensuring
all preparations are accomplished in a timely manner
Conducts Team meetings before and after each event service
Interact with clients and guests while delivering outstanding
customer service
Ensures all servers are following standard operating procedures
Verify that any changes on the Event Order are current and
implemented
Ensures personal appearance standards are being followed
Conducts a final walk through of the building before end of
shift
Practices food safety and sanitation in accordance with Boise
Centre standards, Local, State, and Federal laws
Requirements:
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
One year of leadership experience, or related experience
required
Three years of customer service or related experience,
preferred
Must be willing to become TIPS Certified by City of Boise
Leadership abilities to coach and train banquet staff, be
proactive, and approachable
Ability to collaborate, listen and respond to others and client
needs
Basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations, and food
service etiquette
Ability to perform multiple functions in a fast-paced
environment
Ability to handle time sensitive delivery of services and
emergencies
Assesses multiple demands and priorities and identifies necessary
resources to handle critical work demands
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lift and balance trays with plates of food at shoulder
level and perform moderate physical activity and somewhat strenuous
daily activities
Frequently will: stand and walk for long periods of time; bend,
stoop, kneel, and twist; reach and use of ladders, stools, and
stairs; lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds
May be exposed to moderate noise levels
Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours, long
hours, weekends, evenings, and holidays
