Description:The Banquet Cook prepares large quantities of food for banquets and events. Assisting with all kitchen functions, the Banquet Cook ensures food is presented in a professional manner and the highest quality. Reporting to the Executive Sous Chef, the Banquet Cook is an essential team player to provide our guests with unforgettable experiences.WAGE:Complete wage range: $18.66-$24.66 per hour, depending on experienceWHY WORK AT BOISE CENTRE?Part-time schedule with the potential for a full-time position in the futureState-of-the-art kitchen equipmentOpportunities to grow within Boise CentreAbility to cross train with other departments at Boise CentreEmployee assistance programComplimentary meals provided to the employee while working events (with meal service)Phenomenal team atmosphere and professional culture, WOWgisitics!WHAT DO BANQUET COOKS DO?Reads and understands Prep Lists and adheres to timetablesSets up and maintains a sanitized workstation with ingredients, cooking utensils, and equipmentEnsures all food that exits the kitchen is presented in a professional and creative mannerAssists with training staff on basic culinary techniques to produce quality food Practices food safety and sanitation in accordance with Boise Centre Standards, Local, State, and Federal lawsPrepares ingredients by following standardized recipes to ensure food quality Prepares food amounts to meet projected meal requirements and minimize waste of food items Assists and performs in all areas of the kitchen, as neededCooks food with various utensils and equipment (grills, ovens, mixers, etc.) Monitors food while cooking and baking to stir or turnEnsures cooking and baking equipment is clean, sanitized, and maintainedEvaluates prepared food for presentation, including flavor, appearance and temperature Assists with inventory management, food rotation and provides input to the quality of products usedKeeps current with culinary and seasonal trends, service, and presentation styles Participates in department, company, industry and trade related professional organizations and trainingPerforms a variety of related tasks and duties as assignedPlease submit a resume, a cover letter is recommended.Requirements:REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:A minimum of two years culinary and/or baking experience, requiredMust be willing to complete Idaho Food Handlers Permit (free online at, or already possess a ServSafe certificationKnowledge of basic kitchen functions, temperature control and bakingSkilled in using a knife and understand knife techniques and safetyAbility to work in a high-stress, high-volume work environment with the teamProvides timely and thorough customer service to internal and external customersInteracts professionally and effectively with othersRegular and reliable work attendance at scheduled time on-sitePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, safely operate equipment and exposure to food grade chemicals, and withstand hot steamy room for long periods of timeGood peripheral vision and dexterous with both handsFrequently will: stand and walk for long periods of time; bend, stoop, kneel, and twist; reach and use of ladders, stools, and stairs; lift, push and pull up to 50 poundsMay be exposed to moderate noise levelsMust be willing to work outside of normal business hours, long hours, weekends, evenings, and holidaysPI201274673
