We have an opening for a full-time Staff Permitting & GIS Specialist to work on environmental permitting and planning for water resources projects in our Boise, Idaho office. The successful applicant will have demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting requirements in the natural resources field, as well as experience with construction environmental compliance. The successful applicant will also have experience using Geographic Information System (GIS) software in regards to data management and map preparation. Responsibilities: * Assist in the management and preparation of water resource agency permit applications and environmental documents as required to facilitate the construction of projects as well as operation and maintenance activities. * Apply understanding of federal, state, and local permitting requirements to determine the permitting strategy for water resource projects. Permit knowledge should include but is not limited to: NEPA compliance, ESA Section 7 consultation, USACE Section 10/404 permitting, 401 Water Quality Certification, SWPPP, and county and city environmental permits. * Prepare GIS maps and analyze project impacts to environmental resources. * Manage GIS data for various types of water resource related projects which include shapefiles, digital elevation models, raster data, etc. * Coordinate with project team members (design, environmental, and construction) through a design-build process regarding environmental impacts and required permits. * Assist the internal Environmental Compliance Manager and construction staff regarding environmental regulations and permit stipulations on construction projects. * Assist with client, customer, or official contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings. * Ensure work is conducted within the assigned constraints (i.e., budget and schedule) at the project and program levels. * The position will require occasional travel and field work primarily within the US. Minimum Qualifications: * B.S. degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Biology, or related degree. * 2-5 years of experience working on environmental/water resource projects and knowledge/experience in federal, state and local environmental policies and regulations for states in the western United States. * 2-5 years of experience using GIS software which includes the production of maps and GIS data management. * Possesses strong oral and written communication skills. * Develops and maintains constructive and cooperative working relationships with others. * Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications. * Experience with NEPA compliance.
