Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE : The Director, Specialty Care is responsible for developing, implementing, communicating, and monitoring specialty care programs specific to therapeutic categories and conditions with strategic value to Albertsons Companies Specialty Care. The Director will oversee the Specialty Care team in Livonia, MI and Boise, ID and partner with the Division Directors of Pharmacy Operations, DPMs and Division Patient Care Service Managers to implement new programs, ensure quality controls are in place for existing programs and implementing systems and processes to maximize efficiency. The Director will be responsible to develop strategies to maximize Specialty scripts, sales, and margin.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Responsible for executing the strategic direction and providing leadership for all business development opportunities that come from manufacturers and specialty vendors for the management of specialty medications. Oversees the design and tracks ROI for programs with manufacturers, HUB's, other specialty pharmacies, physician groups, employers, and third-party payers.

Responsible for specialty care services execution and leadership for the specialty care team. React to metrics that measure revenue, accreditation standards, customer service scores and productivity to maximize profitability.

Working closely with Managed Care, develops strategies to maximize revenue and margin with payers for specialty pharmacy medications and services.

Pilot and implement innovative specialty care models that bring value to the company and to the patient and continually develop and iterate the innovative models until they become a standard of care at Albertsons Specialty Care.

Responsible for responding to RFP's for limited distribution products and developing relationships with manufacturers to establish programs to support patients on therapy.

Responsible for promoting Albertsons Companies Specialty Care solution for Specialty fulfillment to third party payers and employers working closely with Managed Care.

Formulate and implement protocols for specialty care and patient care to support and maintain patients on specialty pharmacy medications. Division backstage training and support to roll-out and execute specialty protocols at community pharmacies.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Degree in Pharmacy required (B.S. or PharmD).

Registered Pharmacist

Minimum 3 years clinical or patient care experience.

Previous experience negotiating contracts and agreements with vendors.

Previous call center experience preferred.

Previous recruiting experience preferred.

Knowledge of community pharmacy practice.

Knowledge of Albertsons Pharmacies operations and systems to facilitate the incorporation of SP services at retail level.

Knowledge of emerging Specialty Pharmacy (SP) medications and therapy trends.

Knowledge of Albertsons Companies Pharmacy operations and systems to facilitate the incorporation of SP services at Albertsons Companies community pharmacies.

Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws.

Knowledge of financial reports and utilize to develop strategies to maximize sales and margin

Knowledge of MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access).

Influencing skills, including the ability to persuade others (internal and external customers) to accept a point of view or take a specific course of action, and to influence the actions of others. Able to obtain commitment from others.

Customer relations skills, including meeting customer needs and establishing a service environment. This involves the ability to identify requirements of internal and external customers, focus on achieving optimal results, and develop solutions that positively affect patient satisfaction. This also involves emphasizing the importance of demonstrating good customer service to all and put in place practices that help promote a patient centered culture of care.

Written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in writing, write in a clear and concise manner to peers, vendors, supervisors, or customers. This also includes the ability to target material to the appropriate audience and use correct grammar, punctuation, and spelling.

Oral communication skills, including the ability to speak in a clear and concise manner to peers, vendors, supervisors, or customers one-on-one, in a small group, or in large formal presentations.

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization.

Must possess leadership skills and a positive, enthusiastic attitude.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 25%

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

Most work is performed in a temperature-controlled office environment.

Incumbent may sit for long periods of time at a desk or computer terminal.

Incumbent may use calculators, keyboards, telephone, and other office equipment in the course of normal workday.
