Example of Duties Responsibilities: + Applies engineering principles and practices in a variety of disciplines; such as structures, hydraulics, hydrology, soils, concrete, and asphalt paving. + Use survey equipment such as levels, total stations, and GPS. + Perform engineering plan design for projects using Computer Aided Design software. Write specifications, prepare bid documents, and procure contracts in accordance with Public Works Statutes. + Plans, schedules, conducts, and coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work. + Makes independent decisions on engineering problems and methods. Ability to work independently and with a team as needed. + Resolves questions and issues that arise during design and construction. Work closely with internal customers, contractors, the public, other agencies and stakeholders. This may require the modification of normal thought and practices of the specific field and related sciences and disciplines. + Responsible for managing project budgets and preparing paperwork necessary to administer construction projects. Examples are letters and email correspondence, change orders, pay estimates, etc. + Willing to travel to projects within Idaho, often requiring overnight stays. + Work should result in improved techniques and processes, and refined equipment, materials, and procedures. + Fill in for Engineer Manager during their absence. This can include, but not limited to attending meetings, giving presentations to groups, etc. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.) + Licensed in Idaho as a Professional Engineer (PE), or eligibility for comity licensure by the Idaho Board of Professional Engineers in accordance with Idaho Code, Title 54, Chapter 12 + Experience: Coordinating with State and local government operations in one of the specific engineering specialties: Bio-Engineering and/or Contract Administration; Evaluating engineering projects and making decisions relative to their merit; Writing engineering reports and related correspondence; Reviewing engineering analyses; Making oral presentations to groups relative to the merits of engineering applications. + Valid driver's license. Typically gained by at least two years of experience (POST P.E. Licensure) in one or more of the specific areas listed. 04 03701 IDFG Engineer, Technical 1 - MQ 4 of 5 Please describe your engineering experience evaluating engineering projects and making decisions relative to their merit; writing engineering reports and related correspondence; and reviewing engineering analyses. (Include if this review was the work of other engineers or technicians, or as lead work experience.) Typically gained by at least two years of experience (POST P.E. Licensure), beyond the four years required to obtain PE licensure, in at least one of the specific areas listed in question #3. The experience listed should include doing evaluations, writing reports, and work review (this could be a review of own work or project review). 05 03701 IDFG Engineer, Technical 1 - MQ 5 of 5 Please describe your experience making oral presentations to groups relative to the merits of engineering applications.
