Qualifications:

Minimum of 10 year(s) of experience in related field. OR HS/GED Degree

Must have been previously certified as a COR and ER. Must possess: ? A valid driver?s license. ? Knowledge of public works contracts, timber sale contracts, and contracting procedures. ? Knowledge of forestry land management theories, concepts, and practices. ? Skill in communication and interpersonal relations. Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel Duties:

Primary responsibility is to provide mentoring and coaching to teach engineering detailers and new engineering employees to inspect and administer public works and timber sale contracts, perform road condition inspections, design timber sale road projects and to create complete contract packages. Secondary responsibility is to conduct field surveys for contracts and also to review contract packages of other engineering staff.

Shadows and reviews work of Engineering Employees as they inspect work for compliance with contract specifications and provisions, prepare service contracts, and ensure contractual obligations are met before accepting the final inspection and/or recommending sale closure. 40% Works closely with Forest Service Engineering employees to provide guidance and advice in the review and assessment of timber sale contracts and pre-sale data to determine sufficiency and viability. 25% Compose complete contract packages (includes design pages, notes, estimates, specifications) for timber sales as assigned within mutually agreed upon due dates. These designs shall be consistent with the signed NEPA document. Provide at least weekly progress reports to the Supervisory Civil Engineer of these site design packages and/or field notes. 20% Review contract packages of those created by BNF engineering employees. This will be as assigned and completed within mutually agreed upon completion dates. This will consist of reviewing packages for thoroughness, accuracy, constructability, cost and consistency with forest standards and NEPA. Recommend activities and methods to make improvements. 15%

Other: Overnight travel: Periodic overnight travel will be required. One overnight travel every two weeks on average. Health and Safety Considerations: Valid driver's license, defensive driving training, and review of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for the position. Required Safety Gear: Gloves, hard hat, hiking boots, and safety vest Safety Gear Use: Safety equipment will be required as per the JHA. These items will be required to be worn while out of the vehicle with heavy construction equipment nearby. Physical requirements: Hiking and walking over uneven ground on roads that are not passable with a motorized vehicle.
