They create and issue switching orders involving the distribution system as it pertains to distribution and sub-transmission lines and substations to facilitate maintenance or restoration of power. Requires using the Outage Management System to identify and resolve outages and service events.Maintains dispatching logs showing all switching and abnormal operating conditions of the distribution and sub transmission power system, in our OMS model.Operates distribution substations using SCADA and OMS system.Responsible for monitoring and operating the Sub-transmission and Distribution System in Real Time.A $15,000 sign-on bonus will be paid to the successful candidate in two installments, with the first payment of $5,000 paid at time of hire and the second payment of $10,000 paid in December 2023.In addition to the meaningful work we do, we offer work-life balance, competitive pay and benefits, and both a 401k employer-match and a pension plan, making Idaho Power one of the best employers in the state.REQUIRED SKILLSKnowledge of:IPC dispatching and the IPC electrical distribution systemOperation of SCADA and OMSIdaho Power's dispatching procedures including Clearance and Hot Line Holds Idaho Power's electrical distribution system including the operation of switching devices, capacitor banks, and conductor capacities Operation of SCADA and OMS Outage restoration proceduresSkills in:Mathematics, calculators, computersReading feeder mapsProper telephone and dispatch radio protocolThe use of GIS applications (OMS, Arc FM, Fieldsmart, etc.)The use of computers/technologyPreferred:Advanced skills in the reading and understanding of distribution feeder maps, Transmission Single Lines, and Substation switching diagramsFollowing schematics in a digital formatAbility to:Communicate effectively both verbally and in writingCalculate line and feeder loadIdentify power switching locations and alternate routes for powerTroubleshoot the electrical systemWork well under pressureControl emotions in emergency situationsWork closely with othersSpend entire shift within confines of Dispatch areaWork rotating shifts to provide 24-hour coverage 7 days/week (11-13 hour rotating shifts)Preferred:Demonstrated ability to Multi-task under stressful situationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation:High school diploma or GEDRegional System Operator IExperience:4 years of experience in utility trades (such as lines, stations, mobile workforce)OR2 years of Electrical Utility dispatch operator experienceORAn equivalent combination of experience and trainingPreferred:Experience in the operation of the electrical distribution system and the use of company computer systems and software such as Exchange, Outlook, Word, Excel, Passport, OMS and CLRISRegional System Operator IIExperience:5 years of experience in the operation of the electrical distribution systemOR3 years of Electrical Utility dispatch operator experienceANDThe use of Company computer systems and software such as Outlook, Word, Excel, and CLRISPreferred:Field experience as a lineman, troubleman, dispatch operator or stations technicianExperience in the use of AutoCad, OMS, and SCADA, Fieldsmart, ARC FM, PI, etc.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSThis position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people.
