Regional Lead- Crop Science - Pacific Northwest & Western
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Regional Lead is responsible for leading multiple breeding
field testing sites in the given geography and delivering data
necessary to support product advancement and new technology
implementation in major row crops, including corn (maize), soybean,
cotton, canola, or wheat. Direct report team members may include
leaders of people leaders as well as individual contributors. The
Regional Lead will be successful through establishing a strong
regional culture of safety, compliance excellence, high quality
data return, coaching and personal development, efficiency, and
collaboration. The ability to think and act strategically in
alignment with Bayer's LIFE values (Leadership, Innovation,
Flexibility, and Efficiency) are key to success in the role.
The primary responsibilities of this role, Regional Lead NA Field
Testing - North, are to:
- Establish and maintain a strong regional team culture and
influencea North America Breeding Field Testing level structure
that ensuressafe and efficient operation of the research program in
alignment withBayer's HSE, Compliance and Stewardship requirements,
and Business Code of Conduct and Ethics Standards;
- Lead the personal development of team members and the
implementation of a cohesive team environment through coaching,
counseling, recognition, and providing clear and timely feedback
and lead the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding process for new
full time team members when needed;
- Change champion to drive development and implementation of
novelinnovation to enhance field testing efficiency and
continuously improve data quality;
- Develop and implement regional strategy required to meet
project and organizational goals, act as the primary point of
contact for PlantBreeders, planners, scientists, and other partners
with regards toprojects being carried out by the regional
- Leverage metrics to gauge team performance while sharing
andincorporating best practices to further enhance data
- Work towards continuous improvement of all agricultural
practicesand processes across the region and enterprise either
through directaction or through the work of the team;
- Partner with key stakeholders and partners to ensure
crossfunctional business objectives are attained;
- Lead the planning and implementation of activities with the
help ofthe team and others to engage the local community in a
positive way and help meet company sustainability objectives, serve
as an externally facing point of contact for the region.
WHO YOU ARE
Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE
values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an
incumbent who possesses the following:
- Ph.D. degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, M.S.
degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience, orB.S. degree
with 12 years relevant experience.
- Five years of demonstrated people leadership experience of
- Capability to clearly present information and influence others
through oral and written communication.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Financial management of regional budgets, including
forecasting, cost management, capital planning, and
- Valid driver's license. Driving record (MVR) will be reviewed
and must meet guidelines based on the company's Risk Screening for
- Broad knowledge of modern agricultural practices, industry
trends and technology.
- Degree and experience focused on agriculture, agronomy, life
sciences, engineering, or related field.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement team strategy in
alignment with higher level organizational goals.
