Living by these virtues, we pride ourselves on exceptional service and the highest quality of care.The Lead Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures on patients of all ages, according to approved protocols, ultrasound exposure, safety, and established exam indicators. Schedules and obtains history from patients. Evaluates the appropriateness of requested exams and assist radiologists. Maintains knowledge of equipment and instruments/supplies pertinent to high quality exams. Provides effective internal and external patient communication consistent with age and mental capacity. Some travel between sites expected.SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate degree in Science or Allied Health Field required (Nursing, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Cardiovascular Technologist, etc.).
  • Colleague must obtain an Oregon license within 90 days of hire and may not provide any services in Oregon without an active Oregon license.
  • Colleague must obtain and maintain an active, unrestricted Oregon license prior to providing any services in Oregon.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography with Abdomen (ABD) and OB/GYN registries required.
  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS or as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.GOOD TO HAVE:
    • Registered as a Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
    • Bachelor's degree in science.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
      • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
      • Manages staff scheduling, which includes the following responsibilities: Daily staff schedule Under guidance from the Regional Ultrasound Supervisor, approving time off Under guidance from the Regional Ultrasound Supervisor, approving overtime Assisting with regional float schedule Managing worked hours to budget expectations Managing sick calls/coverage Kronos Timekeeper for the unit. Manages patient scheduling.
      • Responsible for staff training including providing staff development and mentoring staff.
      • Performs reconciliation / charge correction.
      • Assists in the development of protocols and new service lines.
      • Assists in the acquisition and maintenance of departmental accreditation.
      • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Neonate, Child, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric as applicable).
      • Revenue Management: ensures the accuracy of documenting services and supplies provided to the patients.
      • Performs ordered procedures according to subspecialty protocols and procedures, ensuring that optimum exams are acquired in an efficient and timely manner.
      • Responds to all patient care criteria according to SARMC policies and procedures for patient care, including, but not limited to Code Blue Preparedness, Universal Precautions, Radiation Safety Standards and CPR.
      • Keeps accurate and updated documentation of medications on inventory and medications utilized. Schedules patients and radiologists for procedures utilizing specialty area and departmental scheduling protocols.
      • Maintains availability when on call and responds within 30 minutes. Is flexible with shifts and patient assignments including filling shifts in order to cover sick leave, time off, and bereavement within the Health System.
      • Must be able to work independently.
