This is for a temporary position. The expected duration of the temporary assignment is roughly 3 years unless the position becomes permanent during that time.

What does a Departmental Specialist do for us?

Under minimum direction and acting on own initiative and direction, provides complex specialized support for one or more departments or administrative units. Typically supports multiple senior or business unit managers and staff.

Typical duties include maintenance of complicated data systems; research, compilation, and analysis of data for reports/studies. Assignments involve work of a confidential nature and require knowledge of the practices and procedures of the function, company policies and programs.

This position will also provide materials support for Idaho Power downtown office buildings, including material research and office supply replenishment. Maintain organization, cleanliness and 5S Standards within facility and daily workspace. Conduct on-going material cycle counts and process materials receipts, issues, returns, and transfer transactions using the Asset Suite inventory module.

Assemble and prepare materials for shipment by boxing, crating, or wrapping, in addition to marking, addressing, and making arrangements for transport. Process vendor invoices for payment while following accounting standards. As well as utilize research and problem solving to determine resolution of material mismatches.

Acts as coordinator of departmental projects. May provide guidance or work leadership to lower-level staff.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Knowledge of:

The department's functional areas and/or company policies & procedures.
Department-specific systems and software, e.g., MS Project, SharePoint, Cascade, Asset Suite, etc.

Skills in:

Proficient in the operation of systems and software
Strong editing and proofreading skills to assist in composing the format and content of correspondence and technical documents
Application of proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar when proofreading
Organization and maintenance of cleanliness and safety to meet workplace standards

Ability to:

Understand and apply basic mathematical calculations and concepts involving fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.
Research solutions and apply problem solving methods

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Experience:

3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of formal education and work experience
Prefer:
2 years of company experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people. There may be occasional lifts of no more than 10 lbs. The above is a summary of the primary essential functions of the position.
