experiencedData Scientist withapassionforCausal Machine Learning.
This role will act as the Tech Lead for Causal ML within Office
partnering with both Microsoft Research and the Office of the Chief
Economist. Core goals for this role include measure the impact of
AI and Premium features across the Office product suite. This Data
Scientistwillleveragepetabytes of data, economic and statistical
modeling, and experimentation toquantify user engagement,
satisfaction, and growth.The role involves working withapplication
teams (likeWord,Excel, PowerPoint,Project,Planner,OneNote, Teams,
and Outlook),otherdata scientists,dataengineersand program managers
to continuouslyimprove our understanding of AI and Premium feature
usage,retention,and user satisfaction.We are looking for a strong
Senior Data Scientist with a proventrack record in datadriven
decision making.Ideal candidates should be able toidentifya
business or engineering problemand translate it toadata science
problem,digout sources of data, conduct the analysisand modeling,
includingsolving complex machine learning problemsthat drive our
strategic thinking and product development. They should also beable
towork withthePMs and theengineeringteamsto operationalize the
solutions.**Responsibilities****Responsibilities****Core Skills:**+
Identifiesdata sources, integrates multiplesources,or types of
data, and appliesexpertisewithin a data sourcetodevelop methods to
compensate for limitations and extend the applicability of the
data.+ Applies (or develops if necessary) tools and pipelines to
efficiently collect, clean, and prepare massive volumes of data for
analysis.+ Transforms formulated problems into implementation plans
for experiments by applying (and creating when necessary)
theappropriate methods, algorithms, and tools, and
statisticallyvalidatingthe results against biases and errors.+
Interprets results and develops insights into formulated problems
within the business/customer context andprovidesguidance on risks
and limitations.+ Presents findings to product and engineering
leadership and incorporates feedback on the analyses.+ Acquiresand
uses broad knowledge of innovative methods, algorithms, and tools
from within Microsoft and from the scientificliterature andapplies
his or her own analysis of scalability and applicability to the
formulated problem.+ Validates,monitors, and drives continuous
improvement to methods, and proposes enhancements to data sources
that improve usability and results.+ Works collaborativelywithPMsto
translate the business needs into metrics and
thenworkswithdataengineeringto implement
thesemetricsincludingidentifyingand obtainingthe necessary
data.**Qualifications****Qualifications****Requirements:**+ 5+
years of industry experience applying statistical modeling,ML
ordata miningalgorithmsto real world problems.+ 2+ years of
industry experience applying causal models to real world problems,
with a deep understanding of causal inference modeling.+ Strong
proficiency in one or more of the following statistical software:
R, SAS, etc.+ Strong proficiency in one or more of the following
scripting languages: Perl, Python,Scala,or SQL+ Solid foundation of
statistical modeling and machine learning algorithmsand

working with Spark+ Experience with PySparkSoftware Engineering IC4
- The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD
$112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable
to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and
New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this
role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per
year.Microsoft has different base pay ranges for different work
locations within the United States, which allows us to pay
employees competitively and consistently in different geographic
markets (see below). The range above reflects the potential base
pay across the U.S. for this role (except as noted below); the
applicable base pay range will depend on what ultimately is
determined to be the candidate's primary work location. Individual
base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work
location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job
duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. Base pay
ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are
made within the base pay range applicable at the time.At Microsoft
certain roles are eligible for additional rewards, including merit
increases, annual bonus and stock. These awards are allocated based
on individual performance. In addition, certain roles also have the
opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or
utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's

U.S.-based employees have access to medical, dental, and vision
