States SMX is seeking a driven and talented AWS Cloud Engineer to
join our thriving Cloud Services business unit and work with some
of the best Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers in the market.
This individual will bring a passion for technology, a strong
technical skill set, and an ability to deploy, employ, operate, and
sustain Production-ready solutions, software, and tools for our
customers. This position is remote supporting a Herndon, VA team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: + Handle Cloud Operations
(Events, Incidents, and Requests) based on a defined, ticket-driven
service catalog. + Work with customer to develop and manage
Kubernetes (EKS), ECS and Docker container solutions + Work with
customer to develop DevOps solutions including, shared services,
tooling and pipelines + Develop IaC templates to build immutable
infrastructure on AWS using AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) +
Evaluate, respond to, and resolve AWS service issues leveraging AWS
support when needed + Drive technical innovation and efficiency in
infrastructure operations via automation and orchestration + Manage
the monitoring, updating, optimization, redundancy, stability of
cloud systems + Manage AWS services such as IAM, EC2, S3, VPC,
Lambda, SNS, CloudWatch, Redshift, RDS, Config, ECS, EKS, ALB,
security groups, CodePipeline + Assist other teams with
provisioning and getting appropriate access to AWS resources. +
Work with the team to estimate the cost footprint of new AWS
resources and services and conduct general forecasts for our AWS
architecture. + Support AWS infrastructure changes during planned
maintenance windows, as well as ad-hoc support for unplanned
outages. + Ensure Cloud orchestration and automation capability is
operating based on target SLAs with minimal downtime. + Be a
primary 'face to the customer' during the Manage phase of the
customer lifecycle - communicating clearly and concisely to
identify, triage, remediate, and resolve infrastructure and
solution issues when customer needs are greatest. + Take direction
from, and provide clear and timely updates to, Project Lead or
Project Manager + Participate in troubleshooting of infrastructure
and/or application related issues + Produce well-written technical
project documentation and operational runbooks + Maintain core
working hours but remain flexible to support after-hours
maintenance and escalations (as necessary) + Participate as a team
player capable of high performance and flexibility in a dynamic
working environment + Take ownership of issues and act with high
sense of urgency when required + Improve CI/CD tools
integration/operations and full automation of CI/testing + Achieve
and maintain AWS certifications Required Skills: + 5+ years of
experience in an Infrastructure Operations-centric role; 2+ years
of experience in cloud engineering / DevOps + Excellent
understanding of AWS CDK + Good understanding of Kubernetes (EKS),
ECS and Docker containers fundamentals + Strong command of CI/CD
tools (Terraform, Ansible, Git, Jenkins, AWS CodeCommit, AWS
CodePipeline, etc.) + Strong command of tools and processes for
container deployment and management (packaging and image
management, CI/CD, schedulers and orchestration, IaC, monitoring
and management). + Proven ability to dissect a technical
architecture into engineering plans and discrete tasks + Excellent
customer facing skills and the calm professional demeanor necessary
to bolster customer confidence when stress is highest + Collaborate
with internal dev team to help end-to-end testing + Ability to
write scripts in JavaScript, Bash, Python, or similar + Knowledge
in security best practices, tools, and compliance frameworks (NIST,
FedRamp, HIPAA, etc.) + Strong written and verbal communication
skills Desired Skills / Certifications + BS/BA in Computer Science,
Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent technical
experience + Current operations experience within a Cloud Managed
Services Provider (MSP) delivery environment. #LI-Remote #cjpost
