**Overview**The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's (PNNL)
Buildings Simulation & Design Group provides energy simulation,
tool development, and workflow automation for energy policy impact
analyses and integrative building design processes. The Building
Simulation & Design Group is looking for a senior-level Advisor
(Advisor 4) with expertise in building energy codes, a passion for
energy efficiency and pursuit of innovative solutions to help lead
several high-visibility efforts in support of PNNL's Building
Energy Codes Program. The successful candidate will lead teams with
the ultimate goal of driving states and local governments to adopt
the latest national building energy codes and comply with them.The
Electricity Infrastructure and Buildings Division of PNNL is
accelerating the transition to a sustainable, efficient, resilient,
and secure energy system through innovation and actionable

world.**Responsibilities**The Advisor will support PNNL's Building
Energy Codes Program (BECP) in its role to provide direct technical
assistance, education and training, and resources to state and
local jurisdictions in support of energy code adoption and
implementation. The Advisor will use their extensive building
energy codes experience, including policy knowledge, to engage with
external stakeholders in the building energy codes community, such
as building designers, construction industry representatives, state
and local policy makers, and others, to understand their specific
challenges in advancing building energy codes in their states or
local jurisdictions. They will use their influence and skills in
consensus building to develop and deploy strategic efforts
nationally to successfully address those specific challenges to
ultimately result in adoption of and compliance with the latest
model energy codes. The successful candidate will also provide
technical oversight of projects awarded by DOE to other
organizations through funding opportunity announcement (FOA) merit
review processes and regularly collaborate with senior-level staff
across a wide variety of organizations as a PNNL and DOE
representative. The ideal candidate will have strong communication
skills, extensive knowledge of building energy codes, and a strong
interest in research and development.Specific responsibilities will
include:+ Leads development of solutions to a variety of complex
problems related to building energy code adoption and compliance,
including technical, policy, and economic barriers.+ Identifies
opportunities and risk and makes recommendations affecting the
overall objectives and long-range goals of the BECP Technical
Assistance project.+ Leads highly visible projects or tasks with
moderate or high levels of scope, complexity, risk or impact.+
Works independently and provides mentoring to other
staff.**Qualifications**Minimum Qualifications:+ BS/BA and 7 years
of relevant experience -OR-+ MS/MA or higher and 5 years of
relevant experiencePreferred Qualifications:+ A master's degree in
mechanical engineering, architecture, building science, sustainable
design, policy, or related field.+ Several years of experience with
building energy codes and understanding of building system upgrades
and code changes on building performance.+ Experience developing
energy policy for states, public agencies, or other organizations.+
Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills, with a
demonstrated ability for conveying complex concepts concisely and
clearly.+ Strong project management experience in leading complex
projects with budgeting, planning, and control of cost, schedules,
and deliverables.+ A collaborative approach to problem-solving and
the ability to work well with inter-disciplinary teams.**Additional
