enterprises related to agriculture.SummaryThe Contracts Specialist
will facilitate contract activities from inception to completion
and work with a team of highly skilled legal professionals and
attorneys to support all business units. As a member of the
commercial transactions team, the Contracts Specialist will
interact with suppliers, customers, internal stakeholders, and
in-house counsel. The Contracts Specialist will exercise
negotiation skills to build relationships, mitigate risk, and
protect intellectual property and confidential information. As a
self-starter, the Contracts Specialist will seek to effectively
prioritize assignments and issues to drive resolution, growth, and
process improvement.Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, interpret, and negotiate a variety of contracts
and other legal documents.
- Participate in and/or lead negotiations related to contractual
terms and conditions.
- Minimize deviations from standard contract language through
strong and effective negotiations with suppliers, customers, and
business partners.
- Track and coordinate contracts and compliance documents and
ensure contracts are logged, executed, monitored, amended, or
terminated as appropriate.
- Respond to contract requests promptly and provide quality and
focused support to internal business units, suppliers, customers,
and other business partners.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and in-house counsel to
understand and ensure contract terms are consistent with Simplot's
business, financial, and risk management objectives.
- Consistently anticipate and guard against potential contractual
and compliance risks and propose mitigation strategies.
- Assist in review of existing templates, processes, trainings,
and tools to identify areas requiring updates to ensure compliance
with applicable laws and policies as well as assist in drafting new
templates and other process tools.
- Support compliance programs and activities as needed.Typical
EducationBachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from 4 year college or
universityRelevant Experience3+ years related experience and/or
trainingOther InformationStrong verbal and written communication
skills. Ability to interface and communicate effectively with a
large number of diverse groups, including all levels of employees,
in-house counsel, external legal counsel, suppliers, customers, and
other business partners. Strong organizational, analytical and
drafting skills, including attention to detail and a pragmatic,
problem-solving mind-set. Ability to work independently, as well as
collaboratively in a collegial, fast-paced environment.
Understanding of legal formalities, terms, and principles. Ability
to be flexible and adaptive in handling urgent matters and a
significant volume of contracts. Excellent Microsoft Office skills
(i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Experience with contract lifecycle
management software preferred. Preferred Qualifications: 2-3 years
of professional experience drafting and negotiating contracts.Job
