Job SummaryReporting to the Manager of SAP Basis Services, the
SAP S/4HANA Basis Administrator (GCC) is responsible for
configuring, monitoring, and optimizing Avantor's GCC (Government
Community Cloud)/regulated SAP environments. You will work closely
with the SAP Basis team, developers and application teams to
support business-critical applications. Our top priority is
preventing service disruption while enabling fast growth of our
life sciences company. You will also have the opportunity to cross
train and support various SAP products, ancillary systems,
databases, and related technologies while proactively contributing
to strategic SAP projects. Key success factors will include a

environment.MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of
importance)
- Act as the focal point for technical management of the
regulated SAP environments which includes architecting, installing,
configuring, monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting
- Lead and participate in complex SAP projects such as new
implementations, migrations, upgrades, high availability tests,
system refreshes, and system maintenance
- Develop/implement technical strategies and standards to create
a stable ecosystem
- Assist SAP developers, application teams and other users in
troubleshooting issues
- Engage with service provider on relevant change requests and
supports incidents
- When not engaged in support for regulated environments, may
work within global teams to provide support for non-regulated SAP
systems and projects
- Other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training,
Experience and Certifications)
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or
equivalent education/experience
- 3+ years' experience implementing and supporting S/4HANA
environment. Full lifecycle implementation/upgrade experience and
expert-level FIORI experience is required
- 7+ years' experience in SAP Basis administration in ECC 6.0,
Solman 7.2 and several other NetWeaver 7.5+ applications with
ABAP/Java stacks such as BW, PI, EWM, GRC, SAP Gateway, Web
Dispatcher, and other SAP components is required
- Experience in database administration, implementation and
troubleshooting is required
- Experience with Linux/Windows OS and HANA, ASE and MaxDB
databases is required
- Experience with Solution Manager 7.2 and HANA Cockpit is
required
- Ability to perform deep system analysis and resolve issues
rapidly in a complex environment is required
- Experience developing backup/recovery and high availability
strategies is desired
- Experience with Amazon AWS infrastructure, security groups and
other services is desiredKNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those
necessary to perform the job competently)
- Expert in SAP BASIS and underlying operating systems and
databases mentioned above running on Amazon AWS infrastructure
- Able to troubleshoot critical production issues in a timely
manner while communicating effectively to stakeholders
- Able to develop technical standards and procedures to ensure
efficiency and optimal performance
- Able to debug and understand basic programming
- Maintain SAP performance by planning/executing tuning
strategies and soliciting user feedback
- Able to maintain integrity of the environment by managing SAP
Transport Management System, ensuring all configuration and
development changes are promoted properly
- Able to effectively monitor all SAP systems: work processes,
users, system logs, short dumps, locks, developer traces, system
traces, disk space, etc. Develop trend analysis and strive for
continuous improvement
- Able to coordinate SAP system updates as appropriate such as
Support Packages, release upgrades (S/4HANA), and other technology
advancements that align with business requirements
- Able to drive innovation by identifying business areas where
new/different technology can provide unique benefits
- Able to develop and maintain documentation including landscape
diagrams, technical procedures, and runbooks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, both
independently and as a team member
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with
personnel at all levels
- Good time management skills with ability to remain organized
and focused in a highly volatile environment
- Must be flexible with work hours including weekends in order to
support system maintenance and other off hour activities

- Currently work is performed remotely (work from home), with the
ability to remain as such if agreed upon during the hiring process.
Personal computer will be supplied, adequate network connectivity
while working remotely is required and is the responsibility of the
individual
- Offices have adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal
range of temperature and noise level
- A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on
routine basis
- Flexibility in working hours is expected, to provide support
beyond normal business hours.
- May intermittently travel domestically
- Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary
but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or
